The best parks near Borough Market
Many successful people will tell you: the most important part of your work day often takes place away from your desk space. Why? Because we derive motivation and energy from features of the outside world that we cannot get in our usual working environments. Breathe in fresh air, soak up plant life, listen closely to birds, revel in the peace and quiet. This will not only see improvements in the quality of your work due to increased focus, creativity, and productivity. Your general sense of wellbeing will also benefit: fresh air and greenery makes us happier, healthier, and more aware of ourselves. And nothing is more important than that.
If you work in Borough or London Bridge (you may even work in our Uncommon workspace in Borough) there are plenty of vibrant gardens and parks near Borough market and the surrounding area. We love the city, but it’s imperative that we also get a taste of natural life. Take your lunch break to a nearby park bench. Take a brisk walk through some city gardens. However you choose to spend your time outdoors, the important thing is that you are not trapped inside your office all day – even if your office is beautiful and calm in itself!
Here are some of the best parks near Borough market to help you foster a healthier office lifestyle. Let’s take a look at some of our favourites…
.
St George’s Churchyard Gardens
Positioned back-to-back with our Uncommon site, St George’s Churchyard Gardens are a favourite of our members who want to nip out for a quick break. Ample benches for thinking, neat footpaths for strolling, grassy areas populated with fresh herbs and towering oak trees. There’s even a traditional rock garden. Designed as a peaceful retreat with a historical feel, these gardens have all the ingredients of a calming lunchtime hangout. The park closes at dusk, so make sure you visit in the afternoon during those winter months.

Red Cross Garden
The Red Cross Garden has a real village feel to it. If you miss the serenity of country spaces, bask in the colourful flora and refreshing water features throughout this small green enclosure. This is an award-winning park which was beautifully renovated by Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST) in 2005. The organisation and its volunteers have maintained the garden ever since, also running after-school clubs, poetry readings, and even tours of the garden. Spots like these are not only quiet retreats from city life, but integral parts of the surrounding community. Remember that as you enjoy a lunchtime salad by the pond!
