World Meditation Day – Wellness at Uncommon

At Uncommon, we’re highlighting World Meditation Day on May 21st.

Meditation practises can really vary from person to person. In essence, meditation is a range of techniques that focus on achieving a grounded, present and calm mental state.

It holds a wide range of health benefits such as reducing stress and anxiety, improving sleep and promotes positive emotional health. Studies have actually shown that mindfulness meditations can help reduce mind wandering and improve overall attention.

There are no set rules for what your meditation practise should look like. It’s all about finding what works for you. It could simply be taking a couple of minutes out of your day to sit somewhere quiet and undisturbed to focus on your breath.

Here is a 10 minute stress reframing meditation by Headspace to get you started on your meditation journey.

Uncommon Liverpool Street Well Studio

At Uncommon, wellbeing is deeply engraved in our ethos and we always ensure that our members feel supported within their working environment. Our wellness space at Liverpool Street encourages members to take time away from their desks, office space and the daily grind to calm the mind.

Our recent wellbeing report that looked at workplace wellbeing found that:

  • 92% of UK office occupiers prefer wellness enabled buildings
  • 78% of Uncommon members believe having separate spaces designed for different activities has a positive impact on productivity and wellness
  • 95% of members believe the workplace environment impacts our health and wellbeing

This haven of health and wellbeing known as the Well Studio, is located on the eighth floor. It features two Peloton bikes, four bespoke walnut-clad meditation pods, and a roof terrace for relaxing yoga sessions with a stunning view. Why not pay it a visit on your lunch break? Unplug from work for a little while and find your calm.

We encourage all Uncommon members to visit the Well Studio and make use of the excellent wellbeing facilities. We hope you find it to be relaxing, enlightening and energising in equal measure.
