Can you please introduce yourself, tell us your name and your role at Uncommon?

My name is Neil Hodgson and I’m the General Manager of Uncommon Liverpool Street.

What career path led you to this position? What have you done before joining Uncommon?

I previously spent over 20 years working in the Hotel and Hospitality Sector. 12 of these years were spent with Hilton Hotels and Resorts. As well as working in the UK, I’ve also worked in Malaysia and Dubai.

Can you describe your role and what an average day looks like for you? 

No two days are ever the same at Uncommon. A day can go from monthly report and management reviews, to Team member catch-ups and Sales Tours for prospective new members. It all keeps us on our toes and makes the role really enjoyable for me.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Daily member interactions, the pride that you get from gaining positive reviews from members, seeing the member companies grow whilst being with us in the Uncommon family. There are so many rewarding parts of my job.

What advice would you give someone who’s considering a similar role?

Go for it! Embrace all of the challenges that the role throws at you. The more you put into the role, the more satisfaction you will gain.

What do you enjoy most about working from Uncommon spaces? 

The ‘WOW’ factor of all of our buildings. Uncommon really is unbeatable. Also the atmosphere and overall ambience makes it really relaxing to work.

What’s your go to productivity hack?

I love a good list of jobs to do. It’s really satisfying to be able to put a big line through things when they are completed. Outlook reminders are also my go-to reminder hack for anything email related.

What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day? What are you passionate about outside of work?

I love to spend time with my family, and play golf on my days off.

What’s your ambition and where do you see yourself in the next few years?

To develop further in my current role and to help my team and building to become the best that we can be!
