Ramona, Credit Controller, Accounts Receivable

- What is your role at Uncommon?
Credit Controller, Accounts Receivable
- Have you faced any challenges as a woman? How did you overcome them?
Yes, I have indeed. There is a common misconception that women are too soft for debt collection & negotiations, however I believe this role requires a balance of assertiveness and diplomacy. Very often in this field I experienced struggles to have my expertise & authority respected and working my way up the professional ladder has taken extra efforts.
What helped me overcome this has been a firm stand and awareness of my worth and capabilities, as well as being a fact driven individual, which I believe is a major element in the decision-making process. I will always build relationships based on trust, honesty & respect and will set boundaries every time I deem it necessary in order to achieve excellence.
- What advice would you give to those considering a similar role to yours?
Growth begins at the end of your comfort zone. Give yourself the opportunity to see how amazing you can be.
- What woman inspires you and why?
Serena Williams – She revolutionised tennis with her unmatched dominance, work ethic and advocacy for gender and racial equality in sports.
- What is your favourite thing about being a woman?
The resilience and strength we embody. We navigate challenges with grace, adaptability and determination, proving time and again that we can excel in any field while breaking barriers along the way. Equally, our ability to lead with strength and empathy while constantly challenging the norms, pushing the boundaries and redefining success on our own terms.
We invite you to honour and championing all of the women in your company, workplace and lives.
