Best Fulham bars for shaking off the workday

Nestled between the riverside parks, regal buildings, and yoga sanctuaries of Fulham, you can find an abundance of vibrant pubs and bars. Forming the beating heart of this London hotspot, they serve an ever-increasing population of young professionals looking for a taste of city relief. From beer garden gatherings on a sunny weekend to relaxed rounds after a long day at work, there’s an exciting selection of Fulham bars available to those living and working in the area.

As we welcome more and more new members to our Fulham office space on New King’s Road, the Uncommon team have taken it upon themselves to scout out some of the best bars in the surrounding area to which our tenants can flock when seeking reward for their successful day. Quick debriefs after work over a few pints or a glass of wine is one of those staples of city life.

Soak up the lively atmosphere of the local area and reflect on the achievements of your day. Enjoy the company of workmates amidst some post-work drinks. Or perhaps revel in the array of wines, beers, spirits, and cocktails offered up by Fulham’s finest artisanal bartenders. Whichever makes you happiest!

Here we explore the best Fulham bars for shaking off the workday. Why not pop down to one of them after a day at Uncommon?

Duke on the Green

This traditional British pub acts as a go-to spot for those working on New King’s Road (Uncommon’s office is just 5 minutes walk!) Positioned adjacent to Parsons Green and boasting wonderful park-side views from its al fresco seating area, Duke on the Green makes for an especially good pick on those warm summer evenings. Choose from traditional real ales, reliable wines, and seasonal menu items if you get peckish.

The King’s Arms

Positioned mere minutes from Uncommon Fulham, you could technically call this recently refurbed pub our ‘local’. The interior of The King’s Arms is as charming as it is spacious. The wooden accents, elegant décor, and luxe fireplaces make for a tasteful version of traditional pub vibes, and of course there’s plenty of seating to accommodate the excitable post-work crowds. Furthermore, the menu is absent of frills and gives you just what you need, with a wide selection of respectable Wadworth ales on tap and a crowd-pleasing food menu (pizzas and burgers!) providing more than enough to satisfy even the most parched worker.

The White Horse

As the primary address on Parsons Green, bar and restaurant The White Horse delivers all the sophistication and warmth you would expect from a traditional Victorian bar and restaurant. Exquisite, affordable, charming, and well-stocked with a worldly selection of beers and vintages, you can rely on the White Horse for that true ‘British pub experience’. Great for work drinks and client dinners alike – or, if you really think you deserve it, a quiet liquid lunch in the summer.

McGettigans

Simply by telling you that McGettigans is a classic Irish pub, you already know what to expect: amazing hospitality, traditional dishes, live sports, and of course perfectly pulled pints of stout (which, in London, is something of a rarity). With McGettigans, you get all that with the added bonus of trendy decor and an atmosphere that often borders on party mode. It’s an authentic Irish experience for the city professional – perhaps not the best if you’re after a quiet night!

The Temperance

Located once again just down the road from our Uncommon workspace near Putney Bridge, The Temperance is a former Victorian billiards hall with vintage decor, large central bar, split-level seating, and impressively high ceilings. It’s classic interior is offset by a vibrant atmosphere brought about by regular sports screenings and luscious helpings of real ale. Chatter with colleagues over the game and some classic British pub grub. Bliss…
