Uncommon People: Hayley
You won’t notice us. But we’re always here in the background. Making sure you have everything you need. Helping you focus. Calmly supporting the every day. Uncommon People is a series to introduce you to the people who help make Uncommon thrive each and every day. Get to know us…
Can you please introduce yourself, tell us your name and your role at Uncommon?
My name is Hayley and I am the Client Experience Manager at Uncommon Liverpool Street.
What career path led you to this position? What have you done before joining Uncommon?
Before joining Uncommon, I spent 9 years in the hospitality industry. I covered many different front of house roles in hotels – from Guest Relations to Reception Management, moving up to becoming an Assistant Head Concierge. When I decided to make a move from the hospitality industry, I knew I wanted to find a role and company that shared my passion for providing a unique and personalised client experience which led me to Uncommon.
Can you describe your role and what an average day looks like for you?
My main responsibility is to make sure we are delivering the exceptional levels of service set for our members and ensuring their journey at Uncommon is as seamless as possible. I also lead sales tours, onboard new members, answer any enquiries and assist our General Manager amongst many other things. Everyday is usually different so you need to be ready for anything!
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Making our members feel relaxed and happy! Sometimes it’s the smallest things that count and providing members with that warm greeting into the building or having quick catch up over a coffee can make such a positive difference to their day.
What advice would you give someone who’s considering a similar role?
Remember to have customer service at the heart of everything you do and have empathy. Be organised – unexpected situations do happen and could turn your day inside out. In those situations you need to be able to prioritise your actions and use your time efficiently.
“The focus Uncommon has on well being is so influential and has already made a positive impact on me in the short space of time I’ve been part of the team.”
What do you enjoy most about working from Uncommon spaces?
The biophilic design is amazing. I love plants and to have so many in your everyday working environment is such a treat. Not only are they beautiful to look at but it’s proven to be good for you too! The focus Uncommon has on well being is so influential and has already made a positive impact on me in the short space of time I’ve been part of the team.
What’s your go to productivity hack?
I am a huge list maker. There is nothing more satisfying than checking your list at the end of the day and see how much has been ticked off! I always put the list in priority order to make sure I stay on track with any deadlines. Don’t forget to stay hydrated and take regular breaks from your screen – it always helps me keep refreshed throughout the day.
What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day? What are you passionate about outside of work?
Dining out, trying new cuisines and drinking good quality wine in the company of my friends and family is what I usually would have indulged in pre pandemic. Things have been a little different this past year so self-care has taken the driver’s seat. I really enjoy taking nice long walks to clear the mind and achieve my daily step count and end the day with a good skincare routine.
